Oct 03 - Deadline for appealing property assessments passes with large number of residents applying for appeals on assessments.  Some lot assessments have increased up to 47% which will result in a large tax for some properties given the the municipal average increase was 13%.

Sep 26 - The RM of Victoria Beach releases the “What we heard” document produced by the Advisory Committee.

Sep 20 - The RM of Victoria Beach passes a resolution based on a recommendation from the Shoreline Erosion Advisory Committee that calls on the Provincial Government to withhold all permits for  non emergency shoreline  erosion projects on Crown land until the Advisory Committee issues their final report. Considering the emergency nature of much of the erosion issue on Connaught, and areas of King Edward Beaches as well as Albert Beach and Wanasing the resolution might be ineffective.

Sep 12 - VBCOA issues first public statement and as expected provides the VBSPA and other anti erosion protection special interest groups with recommendations while ignoring the concerns of a vast number of cottage owners

Aug 28 - The Victoria Beach Shoreline Protection Association takes over the  Victoria Beach Cottage Owners Association(VBCOA) at the VBCOA annual meeting. Hans Winkler the new VBCOA President provides indication that the VBCOA will shift its message. In his opening statement he indicated he opposed the construction of pump house and water system and the construction of the store. It is expected the VBSPA will influence the VBCOA towards a “do nothing and lets wait and see” approach to shoreline erosion. This will almost guarantee the loss of beaches and shoreline walkways over time.
